Rebecca Taft is a computer scientist and researcher in database management systems with expertise in the area of multi-tenant, cloud-based, scalable database systems. Like many MIT PhDs, Rebecca is a practitioner, not just a theoretician — and after graduating from MIT, she joined database startup Cockroach Labs as a software engineer, applying her research work to Cockroach’s open-source, strongly consistent distributed database system.  Rebecca has multiple scientific publications at top-tier conferences, and when she’s not taming large-scale data problems, you might get a glimpse of this MIT Rowing Club president darting across the Charles River at breakneck speed.
